Andrew says...
"I've been involved in the music scene now for many years, having learnt to
play the keyboard/piano from the age of six.
"Through school and college I continued with music, joining several bands all
over the country and even playing the church organ on Sunday mornings!
"I then got into the recording side of the operation - and joined Hereford
Hospital Radio where I presented a weekly music programme which later
moved over to covering local news, picking up a bronze award for Non-Music
Programme Of The Year 2000. This was the foundation to what I do now.
"A good friend of mine dragged me into DJing having acquired a small
musical knowledge and an understanding of how a mixing desk works, and
we began spinning the tunes at kids' discos from about the age of 13 or 14.
"This naturally led to me doing more and more work behind the decks and
becoming full time in radio, until we move forward into this millennium,
where I'm, ummmm, DJing and working in radio! So I think it's fair to say I
have a broad love of music and I like to entertain.
"I joined the BBC in 1999 letting guests into our Hereford studio out-of-
hours, before becoming a Broadcast Assistant, looking after the offices, doing
live radiocar reports into programmes, looking after the music library and
reporting tracks to PRS, then producing pages for the BBC Hereford &
Worcester website. I also enjoyed a stint at BBC Radio Gloucestershire looking
after the breakfast show.
"Lately I am doing more presentation work, putting together recorded parts of
the output, while making regular contributions to the Introducing shows on
BBC Radio 1.
"Over the years, I've pretty much DJ'd at every pub and club in Herefordshire
(my home county). I have done quite a bit of work in Worcestershire too, as
with other parts of the country.
"Away from the mic, I still like to write music, and am currently producing a
number of dance tracks under the name SFG (Sunshine Feel Good),
collaborating with a number of great people I've met along the way."
